DG Digest: Biden directs OSHA to develop vaccine mandate – or weekly testing – for employees in organizations with more than 100 employees

Here we are rolling around into mid-September already. The fall season brings its own joys and challenges, one of which is the earlier coming of nightfall—before too long, many workers may be heading home at day’s end in darkness. Make sure your workplace has a plan in place to keep doorways, parking lots, and walkways free of obstructions and properly illuminated to facilitate worker safety. It was another fairly quiet week in the regulatory world; here’s the latest:

The agency published another set of Special Permit actions, it’s latest in a busy string this year. The actions cover the usual gamut of items including batteries, portable tanks and cylinders, and special transport situations. See the actions here:

COVID News

On Thursday September 9th, President Joseph Biden announced his intention to direct the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to develop a mandate for employers that have one hundred or more employees. The mandate would require employers to verify that either employees are vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus, or else that unvaccinated employees present a negative COVID-19 results test to that employer on a weekly basis.  At press time, OSHA had not yet published any developed rule or guidance associated with this announcement.  Labelmaster will keep abreast of developments in this area and feature such news in this blog if or when such rules or guidance are actually published. Here’s the story about the president’s announcement.
