It’s the last week of October and everyone knows what that means: the Halloween holiday. Remind your employees to be extra careful when traveling home from work on Thursday as our nation’s streets fill with excited children, many of whom may also be wearing costumes that restrict their peripheral vision. Employees too may be less than normally attentive as they speed home to participate in the festivities. Safety first!
PHMSA
In a major proposed rulemaking, the agency proposed permitting for the first time shipment of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG or Methane) by rail in DOT-1113 series rail tank cars. Previous to this shipment by rail had only been allowed in portable tanks. If approved, the rule will facilitate the increased transport of this commodity by means other than pipeline and tanker trucks. See this brand new NPRM right here

The agency announced a meeting of the Rail Energy Transportation Advisory Committee for November 4th. The committee helps the “Surf Board” with stakeholder concerns related to this transport sector. See the details here
