US Coast Guard
The service announced vacancies on its Maritime Security Advisory Committee. The body helps the Coast Guard consider and craft rules that govern the nation’s port entries and activities, some of which may concern the movement of dangerous goods. The agency has published an information collection requesting voluntary feedback on its service delivery to stakeholders in the hazardous materials community. FMCSA
- The agency charged with motor carrier safety has published an ICR dealing with maintenance practices associated with CMV safety. If you are a carrier, you may want to have a look. Here’s the link
- In a second ICR, the agency published an updated request for information regarding the use of the FMCSA OP-2 information and screening form by foreign motor carriers wishing to obtain a US operating registration. The move will mainly impact carriers based in Mexico. See the details here
TSA
The agency published an ICR dealing with its plan for updated information requirement standards for granting hazmat endorsements to the holder of CDL licenses, an important part of motor carrier operations. The ICR also asks for feedback on service delivery. See it here
STB
The Surface Transportation Board published a comprehensive summary of the regulatory changes it has made in the recent past. The list is organized by the regulatory citation. The new list will allow rail carriers and those served by them to double check current rules more easily to find any changes that may be relevant to them or their operations.
