It’s officially summer! Hope you have some warm weather plans for fun—but always take heat safety, sunburn, and insect bites into account. Summertime visits to the emergency room are something you don’t want to experience. A little planning can go a long way. Here’s the week’s news:
EPA
The agency issued a final rule that aligns its EPCRA community planning and right to know requirements with the most recent iteration of the US 29 CFR 1910.1200 Hazard Communication Standard—itself based on the Global GHS system for hazard classification and risk assignments for hazardous chemicals in the workplace. EPCRA requires subject stakeholders to report to state and local emergency response and planning agencies. See the revised rule here:
The agency also posted a pair of ICR’s related to its RECRA hazardous waste program. Find these ICR’s at the links below:
FMCSA
The agency revised its rule regarding disposition of vehicle inspection reports to only require return of the forms to states that specifically request it. See this revision here:
A second rule revision eliminates the requirement for CMV drivers to self-report road violations. According to the agency, the deployment of electronic information sharing between state DMV agencies has eliminated the need for this reporting. See the rule change here:
The agency also issued an ICR related to its drug and alcohol testing program requirements for drivers of commercial vehicles that are excepted from other requirements due to their small size. See this ICR here:
