DG Digest: PHMSA Sets Date for Next Lithium Battery Air Safety Committee Meeting

PHMSA

The agency published its latest tranche of Special Permit (SP) actions. See the actions at the links provided:

The agency also announced a meeting of the Lithium Battery Air Safety Advisory Committee. The meeting will be held on November 7, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EDT. Requests to attend the meeting must be sent by October 23, 2024. Find full details about how to participate here.

U.S. DOT

The department proposes to amend its regulations for conducting workplace drug and alcohol testing for the federally regulated transportation industry to allow, but not require, electronic signatures on documents required to be created and utilized under the regulations, the use of electronic versions of forms, and the electronic storage of forms and data. Comments are due no later than December 16th, 2024. See this new NPRM here.

OSHA

The agency published a set of corrections to its recent update of the 29 CFR 1910.1200 Hazard Communication Standard. Most of the corrections are minor, however, there are some important value corrections to the various classification criteria tables. See the full set of corrections here.

The agency also renewed an ICR related to its Acrylonitrile Standard. See the ICR here.

USPS

The Postal Service is proposing to amend Mailing Standards of the United States Postal Service, Domestic Mail Manual (DMM®) to discontinue the use of dual shipping labels.
