DG Digest: PHMSA Wants Your Input on Safety Investigations and the EPA Announces Revised Civil Penalty

The election cycle is over and as everyone is no doubt already aware, the White House and parts of Congress will be transitioning to new leadership. This typically creates a certain amount of upheaval and refocus in the nation’s regulatory directives, so we’ll all have to wait and see what happens. We’ll keep bringing you the news right here. Meanwhile, this edition of the DG Digest publishes on Veteran’s Day, when the nation pauses to recall those who have served. PHMSA

The agency publishing a 60-day supplemental notice providing for additional opportunity for public comment on its development of general investigative questions that may be used by PHMSA’s Office of Hazardous Materials Safety (OHMS) field operations personnel when investigating potential general safety issues. These questions are intended to facilitate fact gathering efforts during general investigations related to PHMSA’s safety oversight responsibilities. Interested persons are invited to submit comments on or before January 6, 2025. Find details here.

The Ministry published new guidance related to the storage, handling, and transport of Picric Acid. Dry Picric Acid can be a highly unstable explosive. See the new guidance here.
