DG Digest: PHMSA to solicit input on improvements to 2020 ERG

Monday marked Memorial Day, 2018.  The Labelmaster family joins with the rest of our nation in expressing our gratitude to those who have fallen in the service of our nation.  Their sacrifice is everlasting.  The week wraps up with the following regulatory news:

OSHA

The agency issued a renewed ICR dealing with permit required confined space entry as regulated in 29 CFR 1910.146.  This important regulation provides a standard under which workplaces make entry to spaces not usually occupied by employees and that satisfy certain other conditions that may render then hazardous to entry.  See the renewal here

PHMSA

The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration is soliciting input on ways to improve the Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG) as it develops the 2020 edition (ERG2020). PHMSA is particularly interested in input from emergency services personnel who have experience using the ERG to respond to hazardous materials transportation incidents. An email address has been established for interested persons to submit their input: ERGComments@dot.gov. The agency has posted no defined deadline for comments at this time.  It also indicates that it intends to hold public meetings in reference to the same topic; more information is to be forthcoming as publication time gets closer.  Find more information here

FMCSA

The agency published a list of minor corrections to its recent final rule governing the expanded use of electronic document signatures. See the list here
