Last week brought in the formal beginning of Autumn. Break out the pumpkin spice! Also, take note that the sun is rising later and setting earlier, which can always be a potential impact on driving safety. If your company’s site is located in the snow belt, now is the time to start thinking about getting your plowing and clearance contractor lined up for the coming season. In some places, snow may be flying in just a few weeks, so let’s all be sure we’re ready. Meanwhile, here’s the latest regulatory news:
EPA
The agency is proposing to amend the procedural framework rule for conducting existing chemical risk evaluations under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). In this action, EPA proposes to rescind or revise certain 2024 amendments to the procedural framework rule to, in its words, “effectuate the best reading of the statute and ensure that the procedural framework rule does not impede the timely completion of risk evaluations or impair the effective and efficient protection of health and the environment.” Comments are due by November 7th. See details here:
USDOT
In an internal action, the agency announced on September 19th that its Office of the Inspector General would conduct audits of various FMCSA functions responsible for overseeing the administration of state level commercial driver license (CDL) testing and certification programs. Watch this space for further developments.
