Happy New Year, everyone! I’m sure that I speak for the entire Labelmaster family when I say that we hope you had a great holiday season and that you will have a safe, prosperous, and productive 2024! As is often the case during the end-of-year holiday period, the regulatory world also slowed down a little. So, there isn’t a vast swath of news to report to wrap up 2023. However, there were a few items of interest all the same, so let’s get to them:
Civil Penalty Fee Inflation Adjustment for Federal Agencies
Once or sometimes twice a year, various federal agencies with enforcement authority adjust their civil penalty fee amounts to account for the rate of inflation. Several agencies have done so in the last two weeks. See the associated links below for the various fee rate actions:

Transport Canada
Much like the US government, the Canadian government also adjusts its own civil penalty fees under a program called “Contraventions.” Transport Canada has published its latest update to its contravention list. See it here:
IATA
Every year, IATA revises its acceptance checklists. These lists are for carriers to use in performing compliance and final acceptance checks on consigned dangerous goods that are tendered to them. While these are carrier vice shipper documents, many shippers find that having a copy of the checklists available to them for reference a valuable tool in checking compliance prior to tendering their dangerous goods to the carrier.
