DG Digest: FMCSA extends emergency compliance relief related to the pandemic

December has come, bringing our nation into the final month of what has been a very difficult year.  As the month opens, the pandemic is rapidly growing in extent again.  As workplaces and families both try to prepare for the end of year holidays, be sure to do so as safely as possible. Let’s all do as much as we can to help limit the continuing spread.  With vaccines soon on the way, by this time next year all of this will hopefully just be a bad memory.  Have a stout heart.  All of us will get through this painful time together.  Here’s the regulatory news; it was a fairly quiet week:

FMCSA

The agency extended its emergency relief from compliance with certain sections of 49 CFR 390 through 399 as they relate to transportation related to pandemic response measures.  The new relief extends current exemptions into late February 2021. See the specifics here.

PHMSA

The agency published one minor typographical correction to the HM-219C harmonization rule published last week. See the correction here.
