DGIS VIII Round Up: Day 2

Day 2 of the Dangerous Goods Instructors Symposium kicked off with Rhonda Jessop presenting “An occupation in search of a profession”.  Attendees are looking forward to hearing from Rob Donald & Leslie Hogan from the Canadian Council for Aviation and Aerospace as they discuss creating national dangerous goods standards to promote and develop a specialty skilled workforce.  Additional sessions will address innovative ways to encourage youth to join the dangerous goods profession, the bar set to raise the profile of dangerous goods professionals.

The afternoon kicks off with a panel discussion focused on updates on international and national developments, as well as logic and reasons for choosing regulatory implementation dates, and the tangled relationship between dangerous goods and regulations and compliant packaging.

Following this afternoons speakers, attendees will join us in the Seelbach’s Grand Ballroom for Labelmaster Fest to network with peers, meet the Labelmaster team, learn about new regulations and products while enjoying drinks and hors d’oeuvres.

Tomorrow will bring more great speakers discussing technology & training, auditing and emergency response.  Labelmaster’s own Paul Burgess will be discussing GHS implications and opportunities for instructors as well as Bob Richard dispelling common DG myths.
