The revised National Hazardous Materials Route Registry designates FMCSA approved routes for road vehicles to transport hazardous materials; one example being US Interstate 80, seen here in Thornton, Illinois in March of 2015. In the April 29, 2015 edition of the Federal Register, the US Department of Transportation’s (USDOT) Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has issued a revised National Hazardous Materials Route Registry (NHMRR) which spells out approved routes for road vehicles to transport hazardous materials in the United States.  The Registry also contains extensive information designed to help carriers adequately plan routing taking into account connecting segments and alternatives to preferred routes.  There is also information on various definitions and terms to help clarify the routing instructions, as well as a section on how to provide feedback or seek further information.  This new revision supersedes the previous update of July, 2014.
