DOT Departments Limit Services During Continued Government Shutdown

Have you been curious how the partial Government shutdown has affected the Department of Transportation (DOT) offices? DOT recently issued a plan document outlining how each office is operating during the current funding freeze. It includes a summary of personnel affected (working vs. furloughed), as well as summaries of continuing operations and suspended activities. Hazardous material safety inspections and incident investigations are still being completed by FAA, FRA and PHMSA to detect and remediate safety concerns, but all 3 departments have suspended some services. Surprisingly the FMCSA has 100% of its employees working and has no current plans to suspend any activities. A copy of the most recent (updated January 11th) DOT shutdown plan can be viewed here
